Pterodoras granulosus could work and are slow growers.

Seems to me like it would be ok for a while in the 40 breeder. My Gulper Catfish try to eat anything else period. They are only 3.5" and regularly grab the Peacock Bass that's 5" plus by the head when it's feeding time. Crazy grow out tank.

I wanna get a irwini, and my guy I always get fish from has them. Just talked to my dad, I can build a tank just not TOOOO big. So what would be best dimensions for a irwini, plus some other smaller cats and fish?

My irwini's went from 3" to 7" in 2 months! They get big internet says 30". I would stay with Raphael's. Much slower growth.

Id not recommend an irwini (Megalodoras uranoscopus, 24") or a Bacu (Pterodoras granulosus, 30") until you have your larger tank as they can be either very slow, or very fast growers, depending on the individual. Irwini go at LEAST 72"x24", bacu go at least 72"x36".

Irwini only needs 30" width? I am able to get the bigger tank within 2 months I just need to move some stuff Around. If I don't buy it, we can build it, gonna see what's cheaper/ easier. And I don't want a bacu, I want the irwini, and I know people always say they get tanks, but I am 100 percent sure of it.

No matter if I buy, or build it will be at least 30" wide. If irwini gets around 24" should I try to get bigger than 30? And I have a 10" Raphael my friend is holding for me for now. I appreciate all options and help.
