i like black, but if your not sure, you can get posterboard in different colors to try.

40 cent posterboard. Can't go wrong, it usually has a flat and glossy side too!

+1 on the BLACK!

I recently bought a 125g that came with a Mylar type background that's blue on one side and black on the other. So I tried them both. I liked the black best.

I have had blue, clear, river scenes, and even a mirrored back. Sold on the black. Gives the tank a deeper look and makes my fish stand out.

What about a 3d background for a biotope?

IMHO I like the black or deep ocean blue colors. I use poster board or the foam board you can get from places like walmart, office max, etc.

Black is good for fish like festae, labiatus, midas, or other brighter fish. I use the deep ocean for my darker species like jags.

Also if I use black sand then I'll go deep blue also.
