Background plants

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is two bulbs right? You should be at medium light with that fixture, because the reflectors are meh. If it had really good reflectors you'd be at high light, but that's not a problem since you didn't want to go high light.

Also, know what color bulbs you are using? 6500K, 5000K, ect?

A white and blue bulb. And whatever comes standard with the fixture. That's what my tank is now. I think I did ok

Brand I am unsure, but maybe get a red or pink grow bulb and a 6500K bulb and you should be set. And it will look nice lighting wise.

Generally the German made bulbs are desirable, but idk a specific brand.

Because plants use a lot of red light to grow.

You don't have to use red or pink, but its something worth noting. You can just use two 6500K bulbs and still be fine. I think red bulbs are also popular though because under just 6500K or 5000K lighting, red plants can look a little less red and look more washed out (using a red light means that more red is reflecting off of the plant so it looks more red).

Its just a matter of personal preference at that point.
