I want to know what the best color would be to put on the back outside i was thinking of something black on the back but I'm not sure and would it make my fish stand out more i have pics on my profile check them out and reply

Great idea!!! Besides everyone likes something different. I prefer a black background, but thats me. :)
 
I've always had black backgrounds because they flow with pretty much anyting...........
 
Just my opinion but I think everything else looks bad other than black. The blue looks like all the LFS stores and the fake flowers and scenery looks pretty corny. I would rather have no background that those two. I vote black! It is all personal preference though!
 
I like a black background, I spray painted mine with 99 cent rust-olem(sp?) spray paint cans from home depot and it looks great. The 1 con I've found : if you have something like a DD angelfish, it will blend into the background and may be hard to find if you're looking at the tank from across the room.

i did see a fancy goldfish tank with crimson red once and it looked nice as well.
 
I did one with Brown that worked pretty well. Looks natural with my Bluegills
