background

Also, if you like the looks of a natural planted background, you can glue some cork board on the back (and/or sides?) using aquarium silicone. Then you can attach some real live plants to it by stapling with U-shaped galvanized wire... In time, the plants will grow (with proper lighting & water conditions, of course) which will make a naturally beautiful planted background. Any added driftwood placed into the tank would be even more highlighted by this natural background.

Cheerio and happy keeping! :)

Howdy,

if you'd like to prepare a real cool background, then do this: Get paper/cardboard the size of the back of your tank. Spray construction foam (polyurethane) on it, let cure. This way, you create a 3D background. Paint with oil-based paint and let the colors flow into each other. Use brown and green, but also bright yellow (sparingly). It'll look awesome. I do that for all of my tanks. It looks real natural.

Maybe not as cheap as a trashbag, but it looks real cool!

my dad did that to my tank stand, it looked stupid, plus he diddnt let me take it down, so he did let me make a water change for almost 3 weeks :swear:
It probably looked stupid because it was your dad's idea and not yours, I crinkle it before sticking it on and like the way it looks.

I like blue painted backgrounds or rock paper backgrounds . You can also make your own using styrofoam and some paints if youre handy. ive seen some in person and they rock. There are a lot of instructions on the web on how to do the 3d backgrounds.
