$150 is way too much for a background IMO, unless it's a 3D. What about some window tint????

lol you make it sound like I'm going with some boring generic something or other! No no no... I'm going with something one of a kind and the price comes with installation. $150 is more than fair for such.

Spray paint it black.. Its what the pros do. Anything else will look tacky.

No paint. Wife veto'd that idea. She saw the large tanks in the LFS that are painted like so and hated the look. I'm still waiting on the graphics shop to email me some of the ideas.

paint is the looks really nice. you have to have primer mixed in or else it wont stick to glass

I know you're not painting, but I hate to leave bad info out there uncorrected, so:

Shenanigans on that primer deal.. I used brush on cheap-o home depot black paint and it looks amazing. Tons of people use the cheapest black spraypaint they can find and have great results.

$150 for a background?! I hope you like it. Comes with install? How hard is it to tape a background to the back of your tank. To me your wife sounds nonsensical to not want you to pay $3.00 for a can of spray paint vs. a $150 background, and then you mentioned wanting dragons and castles and now I understand yalls relationship. What are you going to decorate the tank with flying saucers and martians?

. Going with Medieval and Dragons and such.
I don't know if that is sarcasm, but I have a hard time believing your wife would let you have a dragon background if she veto'd one painted black or blue.

HAHA! No no its an entire stick-on Vinyl graphic.

The inside of the tank is getting bogwood and a few ceramic dragons. BTW, My Name is Pete, and I've been painting, drawing, and designing Dragon Sculptures, Drawings, Paintings, and Tattoos my entire life. Dragons have paid for a lot of stuff in my life. Yes, I know they aren't real... except for the small reptiles known as "dragons" or the ones that live in the sea... but nothing that looks like the ones in the Mythical Sense.

Honestly I only brought the idea up to her to try and get her to budge on the paint idea. Oh well... I'm running with it!

Ok... so this clown was supposed to send me a draft design by yesterday. No such thing in my inbox yet. Back to the drawing board I guess...

No Paint,
No Tint,
Need a 24.5" tall, 72" wide, background image. Not a solid color. I'm tapping out of ideas.

I saw that in your sig about an hour ago, and just then a friend of mine, who has 3 tanks surprised me with a background that matches my river-rock gravel and plants perfectly. 74" wide, and 30" tall. We just finished cutting it and applying it to the back of my tank.

I'll keep you in mind though! Aquariums are like tattoos... one you get one, you want lots more. Speaking of, I just got a call from my mother-in-law to give me another tank! :headbang2She says she has no idea how many gallons it is, but its heavy, and its free. Never look a free tank in the mouth :D Maybe I'll see it next week and it will turn out to be some dinky 10g.
