Backyard rocks O.K.???

I use rocks from my yard all the time,just scrub them with a stiff brush and hot water

I've gotten both rocks and wood from local rivers and streams. I scrubbed them really well with a stiff wire brush and then baked them in the oven on 400 F for about an hour. Never had a problem. By the way, I baked them because most were too big to be boiled in even the largest pot I had at the time.
