I am very lucky and privileged to live in such a beautiful place... There are a few down sides, though---bears periodically raiding garbage cans, raccoons eating the outside cat's food---frequent power outages from downed trees.....

Nice! Any updates on the Tank build (havent looked at the thread in a Long time so I'm behind on updates :D)?

I hate you because I'm jealous. I love you because you are an awesome fish keeper.

The river looks pristine!

Can you do me a favor? Keep an eye out for Darlingtonia californica. Depending on how far north you are they may be present in your area.

Very interesting....I didn't know what you were talking about, so looked it up. There could very well be some around here. You've opened my eyes!

Drywall going up--filter room (as of Friday) has moisture-resistent drywall (soundboard and drywall on all walls adjoining living area. Poor sump tank is being used as a desk/catchall

drywall, mudding/taping, texturizing, painting to be done in all areas (except the fishroom) before the tank/stand are moved into place. In-wall fish room will be done after the tank is moved...so the big move is still a ways off.

They're one of the more unusual pitchers in the US. I'm interning at a research and conservation facility in VA that works with carnivorous and rare bog plants. We can't grow cobra lilies very easily over here because it gets way too hot. You're very lucky to be where you are.
