I guess I just sit back now and see how it plays out. If it goes bad it's back to beers and blonds which may be cheaper....maybe....:)

VERY good advice. I think I'll take it......

I'm thinking my updates are going to be coming quicker. My one xingu is dead the other one that quit eating yesterday is following the same path. When I put food in today it started trying to eat when there was no food under it and when some drifted under it was only able to go through the motions and couldn't keep it in it's mouth. This is the same actions as my one that died exhibited before it died.

So the last xingu quit eating and I noticed some white dots on it's disk. Anyone got any ideas?
I'm waiting for gumby to finish his treatment of maracyn to see if thats helped him

I have always been under the understanding that rays cant get ich but the more and more I hear about this it makes sense as mine did not get this bacteria.

1. Mine had salt right off the bat (a known cure for ich), yours didn't.
2. I had UV right off the bat, yours didn't.
3. Not all are affected by the bacteria. lead me to think it is based on the immune system
4. Once it gets to a certain stage you cant cure it
5. White dots

The more I've read the more the symptoms and causes are all adding up to some form of ich. I'm sure I'm just to late for mine. Hopefully the rest of you do treat and don't rely on waterchanges alone. It seems the brazil imports are more of the problem than anything alse.

According to Mikes cure it is a high salt bath (ich cure), high temp (kicks them into a quicker reproductive cycle enabling the salt to kill it at the right stage) and binox which would stop the rays from scratching more and stressing out. Just my gut instinct with no proven facts

This is so sad.:( It's not really ich, it's smaller and has a longer incubation period and is more resistant to salt and higher temperatures as well as being able to sustain itself without a host through photosynthesis. A dark tank is a start as well as formalin and malachite green. Thats from the other thread on this as well.

Well the good news is I found out what may have been causing stress on one if not all my new imports. I began treating with salt and nitrofurazone again and found this. Now if this is the problem with the others do you begin forcefeeding since they're not eating and then some sort of laxitive or any ideas on this.
