Bacteria affecting new rays

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If DW knew what this was he probably would have Chimed in by now.
It is now a science experiment......try clout half dose. It will kill everything in the tank....hopefully not them.

he might not even have paid any mind to this thread.... i think i would go hardcore mardell meds maracyn/2.... from there move on... i still want to know if they are hard or soft

I'll for sure try the maracyn out I just didn't want to be all over the place with what I'm doing but now that the nitrofurazone has been out for awhile it's time to try something else.
They looked hard before but a few that have started protruding out more, appear soft. Haven't touched them.....never thought about it.....not sure if it would stress the ray more or not since it's a pain with this acrylic tank to catch it.

My first thought is this could be a reaction to all the meds and super-salt. Potams. have no way to easily excrete salt and you have had them in brine for weeks.
If the ray is otherwise OK then how about giving all that a rest and simply changing water and getting onto a normal good-health routine.

Thanks for lending a hand. They have been in salt and meds for awhile so there could be something there but wasn't sure since the other 2 show no signs of problems.
I'm not sure the rays are fine yet since there still is scratching present with the salt and nitrofurazone removed but they may need an adjustment period to toughen up again.lol
I'm just a lttle paranoid to do this because the last time I tried this they didn't eat for 4-6 weeks but there may have been other complications still present back there.
My one thought is to divide the rays up and try maracyn on 1 and a drip system on the other 2.

If they are eating they probably are fine. If it ain't broke don;t fix it. If they are darting around, possibly you have some stray voltage?

2 are still eating and 1 is occasionally. None are acting normal still so I'll give it a little longer and try something else. Thanks for the concern.
I'm not sure what it is but it was affecting the outside at first but I now think it is inside the ray also. The ray's waste doesn't look right and when the one eats it seems constipated after.
