hi i was wondering what is going on to my tank, so recently i had an algae bloom and it messed my tank up bad, so my friend told me to buy a 50 gallon filter for my 20 gal so i did, left it overnight and in the morning i looked the front of the tank looks pretty clear but on the side it looks like it's cloudy in the inside? not sure how to explain it, plz help. btw i do not want answers relating about my tank size for the fish, i know it's too small for them but that's all i have

Why can't you realize that your going to keep having problems unless you get a bigger tank? That or get smaller fish!

where is the disgusting rainbow gravel?

Also you do know that the main problem is the tank size right?
So tell me whats the point of asking advice if you already know the answer
but just simply refuse to do anything about it because you don't want to get a bigger tank and you don't want to give up the fish

That is just plain selfish

quit being trolls i need a real answer, and yah sorry in the original i said algae bloom, well it isn't meant to say bacterial bloom in the post

you never gave me the real solution to it rather than OMFG GET A BIGGER TANK

Well, are you going to get a bigger tank REALLY SOON?

there is a few ways you could solve this.
1- extra filteration. such as a sponge filter. or just a better hob then the one you have (is there 2 in the photo?

2- find a way to get rid of one of the fish. sell it or give one away. there is too much bioload in that tank so you will need to find a way to decrease it.

3- get a bigger tank. if all you can afford is a 55 that will do for 6months or so until you can afford a bigger one. RTC Get to extreme sizes that most people dont even think about having them in aquaria. and the other fish. a peacock bass will grow fast and easily outgrow most sizes of tank up to about 180

Peacock bass info http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/cichlid/PeacockCichlid.php

these fish species are on the extreme of fishkeeping. They need the upmost care and tank requirements.

These guys may come across as being mean but they are just trying to get a point across that you will need a very very very large tank for both species

Arowana get Massive aswell. Arowana info http://www.aquariumpassion.com/articles/feshwater/arowana-general-information.html
they can reach an upwards of a meter. I'm not trying to be mean but i do hope you realize that you would need a huge tank to house these monster fish. a small 20g isn't going to work for fish like that. I personally wouldnt even house a rtc in a 20g for more then a month. The Arowana and peacock bass are adding to the bioload alot and the pleco's are just overloading your tank, the reason a bacteria bloom happens is that there is too much ammonia nitrite etc.. and waste products in the tank and not enough bacteria to break it down. There is no substrate in the tank so there isnt much area that can house beneficial bacteria, and the tank is overstocked. the guys are just stating an obvious problem.

To prevent the bacterial bloom you will need to add bacteria to the tank, from existing sponges on other filters or get a bottle of stability or any product that adds beneficial bacteria to the tank. i would dose the beneficial bacteria daily. decrease feedings to maybe once every 2 days (feeding them adds bioload to the tank in the form of poop) make sure that the ammonia and nitrite are detoxified using a product like Prime. if you dont detoxify the ammonia and nitrite they will do damage to the fish and eventually kill them. you will have to do slight water changes like 10% or 20% everyday. DO NOT DO MORE THEN 20% or you will be doing the tank no good!. keep on a routine to add BB to the tank thats the only way you can solve this issue!
