Ok So I know this sounds weird. Has anyone got a bad batch of fish ? Not fish to eat but live fish ? I have a 180 gallon an stocked it with some 1-3 inch cichlids, Flower horn, oscar, 2 basketmouths, rainbow, 2 convicts, jackdempsy, green terror, motoro ray and 5 fire mouths... I have one fire mouth left.... They were all healthy when I got them... small around 1 inch... Eating well... My levels are all fine, ive checked and checked again ! it is a 180 with a fx5 and an aquaclear 110... All of the cichlids are 2-3 inches, except for the 2 convicts (I think thet number may be down to one I think the ray ate one). All the other fish are fine eating well and show no signs of any health problems... Ive noticed that they fire mouths cant seem to close their mouths and hang out at the top of the big long in my tank... It was found outside, I had put it in a tub of hot water for 2 hours then dumped boiling water on it a few tiems and then let it sit in a bucket for a week then put it in my tank... Heres some pics of the last fire mouth and the log...

Also they were all very colourless when I got them, they all get REALLY nice looking then die two days later... NO OTHER FISH ARE SHOWING THIS

Maybe some kind of metal in your tap, or maybe temp ? Sometimes water companies add things to the tap water with no effects on humans but can affect fish. Are you on a well?

disease... if it was water quality issues the ray would be dead.

Ok SO I took out the fire mouth, JUST incase I took out the green terror because he clearly has it and I took out my rainbow cichlid because the flowerhorn was kicking his ass... They are all in a hospital tank.

I also took out the big log I found from outside....

ALSO I Cleaned both my filters....

Only bad thing now is that I have a cloudy tank from re aqua scaping my tank lol.

Hard to tell because the pic is small, but it could be Flexibactor columnaris (duck lips). It kills in a matter of days. It is most virulent at temps in the mid 80sF and higher, so if your temp is up in that range, turn your heaters down.
The fish you have will be fine at temps in the 70s.
Here's a pic of a fish I had that died.
