Bad batch of fish ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
maybe they were subjected to poor conditions at the LFS? or maybe ph, nitrate, ammonia and other factors killed them

i got a bad batch of tetras, or maybe it was just my bad luck because they all died in one day :(

Here is a pick of the last bucket mouth that died.... I had all the infected out of the tank (lol infected, fish zombies) Then this basked mouth dies ! :nilly:

Im using industrial silica sand, Think that is it ? If so why is the ray still fine !
So the sting ray is still as healthy as ever... Thats why I think its Duck lips, also the water is fine ! soo:feedback:

my tank temp is 75. I put them in an even cooler tank 72. So I guess we shall find out !

75 is low for a ray. you should have it in the 80's. also cichlids are a poor choice of tankmates for rays... they'll eventually attack the eyes.
aside from that, hopefully you find out what's causing the problem.
sorry to hear about your loses.

If its really duck lips then best of luck, since thats how i lost my polleni... Damn thing strikes so fast theres almost not much you can do...

how do you treat duck lips? quarantine each fish individually and clean the tank thoroughly? I'm curious about this

I tried looking online before, but i think there really isnt much you can do to save a fish from duck lips...

damn, do you know if rays can get it ? Lol. My once fully an awsome cichlid tank is now very bare.... the 180 is now bare bottom, no decore, with just the 6 inch ray in it. did a 50% water change today. The flower horn is in a 20 gallon. He will fit in there by himself for another 2 months prolly.

SO here is my delima...Should I fully empty all the water in the tank or if I give it a week will I be good to try and restock my tank ?
