Man I have been trying to get a Juruense for like 6 months finally got him. I drove 2.5 hours away barely made it before closing and 36 hours later he dead. I have never lost a fish like this before I have been very lucky between all my tanks and fish I have only ever lost feeders and guppies things like that oh and plecos and can't keep them alive to save my life. I gave up on them. Anyways is there anything special I should know before doing this all over again? I put him in his own tank that I use for nothing but newbies with feeder guppies in it oh and a damn bullfrog tadpole I have been trying to grow for my kids to watch. It's a planted tank and the water level is 4" down from the bottom with a huge sponge filter it's been running for over a year and have never had any problems. He even ate 24hrs after putting him in there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'm very sorry for your loss. How did you acclimate him to the water? Did you let him adjust to temp and other parameters, like with a drip method?

I'm just throwing this out there, but it could be that there is such a difference between your water (even in an established tank) and the water he came from that he has some sort of shock. Although it seems that if he was in shock he probably wouldn't have eaten right away... JMO

I did the same thing for him as all my other new ones. Floated him in the tank for an hour. I checked the water he was in against mine then I mixed them together and he sat in there for 1/2 hour then he went in the tank. He seemed to be fine he was chasing guppies within 2 or 3 hours. Oh and the temps were identical when he was finally introduced as I check with a digital thermometer. Was just thinking maybe I did something wrong since I have read that these guys are not aggressive predators like the rest of my cats. Thanks for your concern.

It easily could have been that the fish just succomed to the stress of being moved. I have lost two wolfish to this same thing acclimated via drip method they ate for a day or even two and then up and died. :(

Thank you I am going to get another in the AM and try again.

You might try doing a test on the water that you are getting him in versus the water that you are putting him in to see if there are any differences in the water quality.

well he did well on the ride home :thumbsup:and so far ........ I do not want to jinx myself so I will leave it at that for now and just keep ya'll updated with his progress
