Would it be stupid to put a Jardini and a Spotted Gar togethor, there both about the same size and the tank will be a 6x2.5x2.

Who would kill who if they fight?

the tank is not wide enuf for either of them. both fish are long bodied which means they need a lot more turning room than 3 feet. if they are both the same size there is a small chance it cud work. i can foresee the jar being overaggressive and chasing the gar into the tank walls. if ure unlucky it cud cause the gar to break its backbone and be hunched. a common injury when a gar is placed with another aggressive predator. both fish are best kept alone.

A 30" wide tank isnt big enough for a Jardini which normally only reaches about 24" in captivity:screwy:

But the rest of your points are good.
Ive decided not too get a gar considering it cost $400 and would really be stupid to risk that amount of money on it with odds against it.

i keep my gar and jardini together, no problems in 6x2.both are similar size

Really? Got any pictures?

It could work ... you never know until you try.

Everyone will probably say that jars are solitary fish, but there are so many examples of when that wasn't the case.

btw ... a tank with a width of 2.5' is plenty for a jar. They usually don't get over 2' in aquaria and have a pretty tight turning circle.

Good luck!

the gar wouldn't stand a chance. you made a good decision by not getting it. why learn the hard way?

Well its not actually a jar but I keep my Gar and Silver together and they get along awsomely

But it is true what they say about gars its a hit and miss

Im gonna try it.. Im gonna a really small Jar..and raise it wish a lot of fish so it does'nt become aggressive..and then introduce the jar with the gar...

Give me a month to get the Jar.. Ill keep ya updated..
