going to need a bigger tank for an arowana. you could do a nice S/A cichlid setup or a amazon setup for the loricariidae. maybe a dovi par?

or get you some giant gourami's and some killer clown loachs.

what are the dimensions on the 100gl?

talk about needing a bigger tank? a dovii pair is gonna need much bigger not including the clown knife.......I suggest some medium size, less aggresive SA/CA cichlids like severums or maybe geophagus and some silver dollars......that would be a nice tank................

good god stop posting giant fish for people to buy. I see this in every thread and it's ridiculous. Aro for a 100 gal , dovii pair? Peacock bass??????

I like your idea with the needlefish I actually think that would be pretty cool. Get yourself some nice tall vertical plants for it to hide in and it would be cool with SD's or something. Maybe some livebearers for a natural food source?

The only problem I see is that clown knife's get huge and would probably end up terrorizing your other fish at night. They are very flexible when turning but it will still end up outgrowing that tank. But on the other hand it should take while for that to happen.

Thanks Ammerman. I realize that this is MONSTER fish and all....but I'm not new to fishkeeping. I've had many tanks over the years, this is just the current set. Thought I had escaped only to be sucked back in by a free 10 gallon tank.

What do you think about mixing Monos with the CK? My LFS has a nice group for not a whole lot of money at current. The needlefish are an option, and like I said the 100 is just the first stop on a road to much, much larger tanks.

I'm not an expert with CK's but I don't think it would work well. Mono are gonna need to be in brackish water and I don't CK's would react well at all to that environment.

Silver dollars it is then. I'm trying to get fish that will cover all levels of the tank. The CK is mostly a bottom dweeler so I'm looking for fish that will be middle and top swimmers.

Right, so I've spent all of my work day sitting here trying to put together all the other things I need for this tank. Lord, the odds and ends will kill you. I'm starting to think that I should forget the fish and just fill 'er up and stare at all my hard earned money.....

Do PC lights really have to be so darned expensive?

id just go for regular florescant lights, they are cheap and affective

where talkin like 3 dollars at walmart and will last atleast 6 months

my 100 gallon has the fish in my sig.....but thats gonna get thined out soon as the gar and bass will quickly outgrow the tank....
id stay away form silverdollars, i tried a school of 10 of them and just HATED it. traded them in for a $60 loss at the LFS
if i was you id get a few bichirs, whichever ones u take a fancy to, and a few dats, just not pulchers (widebars) as they will out grow the tank EVENTUALLY, even tho they grow painfully slow and for the suface try one of the "false gar" species, Boulengerella maculata is a good one, mines a real trooper, made it through lossing an eye.

something like this:

1 Boulengerella maculata
3 Polypterus Sp.
1 Clown Knife
3 Coius/Datnoidies Sp.

sorry to upset you dougie, that is what the ? mark was for. I wasn't even thinking about the CK when I wrote that.
