bad idea?

I'm thinking of getting this for one of my spare 7.5 gallon tanks : pair of german blue rams and a pair of peppermint plecos. I know there will be a tad bit of aggression, mainly on the plecs but that can be avoided with lots and lots of decor (lava rock, flower pots etc.) I also read lots about the fish I'm going to be breeding, and i read that the peppers are only aggressive to other plecos and german rams are pretty peaceful even when breeding.

I would say its a bad idea. If you are honestly looking to breed any fish, its best to give them enough room to move in. A 7.5 gallon tank isnt even enough room even as a fry growout tank. So putting a 4 fish in there to breed them would be a bad idea. Save some $$ and get at least a 40 gallon breeder if you are going to try and breed anything.

Definately a not-so-good idea. I won't say terrible, but definately not-so-good. In a medium-planted 10g with two Rams, I'm getting ALOT of aggression. I had to remove 6 Cardinal Tetras because they were getting ripped apart. I'd say Troyness is right in his advice, although I think the Plecs could be bred in a 20g long tank, and the Rams COULD be bred in 10g (I'm doing it), but I definately think a 20g long or even a 20g high would be much better.

Thanks any way, but will rams breed in a tank which isn't planted?

Nah. One in a million would, but plants are thier natural habitat. Its like saying, how do you think cave spawners would breed in the middle of nowhere? They wouldnt. So you need plants, tall ones and flat, wide ones. But you'll need some fertilizer at least to keep them going.
