OMG, I can't believe what happened to my RTC. I come home from work and I do my ritual pets check and I see my RTC out in the open which he never does and is almost dead. I get a closer look to see his stomach is ripped open:eek:   . How the heck did this happen? There are no pointy rocks or such. The heater is vertical on the aquarium wall so it couldn't have got wedged and burned. I have had aquariums constantly for 32 years and I have never seen this before. All other fish are doing super great. I'm really pi$$ed at this. He was around 9 inches and was only 2.5 inches when I bought him last week ( sad attempt at humor). I don't know if it could have something to do with swallowing my 5.5 inch PB 3 weeks ago . :( Let me tell you, this hasen't been a good month for my fish. Here is a pic... RIP RTC

what are the other fish in the tank? Could 1 of them have done it?

Sorry for your loss. Was that meal just too big?

The other 2 are a 22'' Black Aro and a 13.5 inch Id Shark. They have been together for a while now and have only recently been moved to their new 230 gal.

Thanks for the replies. The PB was for sure not a planned meal I loved that fish. I couldn't beleive my eyes when I looked into the tank that morning and saw the fattest RTC I have ever seen and no PB anywhere, I cant believe the RTC swallowed something 3/4 it's size. I wunder if the dorsal spines on a PB could puncture a hole in RTC from the inside and then slowly turn into this? It's just soooo strange because the RTC was fine yesterday.

hmmm, you guys thinking what I am? Aro? They have a nasty bite!
