Bad News: Grass carp found in Sartell, MN!

I've found that common carps makes good catfish cutbait....too bad its illegal to use carps as cutbait for the catfish because the catfish were crazy for them!

It is because they are so greasy. I have used drum as cut bait before with not real good results. Whole small drum should be good. Bullheads are great. There is no real reason carp can't be used. Yeah they are invasive but they are in every lake around. I can't think of many lakes that are carp free except in the far north. They are going to be the same results with the Asian and grass carp.

Personally I would prefer using carp as bait on all known catfish lakes/rivers instead of using carp as bait on a lake where the catfish do not existed. Some of us are trying to control the carp populations in few lakes but you are right not too many lakes are carp-free. And to be fair, not all common carps are bad in few lakes. It seems that common carps often become a problem in most eutrophic lakes while the carps are a rare problem in most oligotrophic lakes. Common carps may be a problem in mesotrophic lakes but not so bad.
