BAD OSCAR!!!!!!!

i got the 10" oscar in a well maintained 55. and he would do the hunger strike thing,, now he's eating and even coming up and taking food from my hand,,




now, when he does eat,,,, its like i gave him a scooby snack ,

he goes ape****, moving rocks, chewing plants into pieces, bulldozing gravel, fliping driftwood, ripping leavs off fake plants, attacking the glass, he snapped and 7" stick of water bamboo in half???!!!?!?!?!!?!
he ripped the filter nozzle off,

he tries to break the heater, i had a 20" buble wand, the big thick blue kind???
he is trying to lift it off the ground and bring it to the top and maybe throw it out of the tank???

the jd he shares the tank with just waches him, like WTF??? its kinda funny to see the jd just observing..




i dont understand, he is my first oscar, and he is a weird bastard

what does it mean when your oscar is this destructive after a meal?
i have searched for reckless oscars, but nothing really comes up,,,

btw water is clean and changed 50% weekly with a 10% mid week,
all levels are perfect..




at this point he lives up to his name,, "douche"
 
Well, he's expressing his happiness lol Or, he's just trying to (and DOING so) rearranging his tank. They are wonderful fish.
 
i always thought they were lazy and chill fish,, i was dead wrong, he's nuts.

it sucks but its kinda funny to watch,,, i dont know,,,



he attacks the glass, very much like my big GT use to do, but the Gt was evil about it, the O seems like he just wants to swimm thru it,,

lol some oscars will rearrange tanks as they see fit, you dont have a choice or say in the matter. And when you try to arrange it, your just fighting an uphill battle, as the oscar will switch it right back when it sees fit. The fact that he does it after feeding is wierd, i dont know why then of all times, but to him thats his tank, reguardless of your aquascaping efforts. Just be happy he hasnt tried to open the lid yet to push out the unwanted decorations onto your floor.
 
Oscars are notorious for smashing heaters wrecking filters and destroying plants.Its part of thier charm:headbang2

they are lazy and chilled fish with a hint of chilli afterburn...seriously just leave em to it......when you first saw oscars was it in a shop?thats where i first really took an intrest in them...one in a four foot tand with nothing in there atall no gravel/plants/wood etc...and it just stared at the wall...think when there doing this in your tank at least theyre doing somthing...imagine if oscars were as active as danios:WHOA: serious distruction:ROFL:

i wouldnt mind havn a oscar like that, i would just laugh at him but i see where your coming from, must be F*****g anoying if you want the tank as display
