BAD OSCAR!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awww he would fit in perfectly in mine lol. It's happiness mine does the same thing pulls plants up knocks the intake hose off the suction cups pulls the air lines out, attacks the heater, gravel moved all over and she attacks the lid. Normal behavior lol.

well. im just glad that he's not nuts, actually normal,, i had not planned on getting a bigger tank,, everywhere i read 55 to 75 gal for a oscar,

so i guess i got the minimum, but it could be worse,, have you read the thread "my mom bought me a oscar"?

thanks guys

It could also be determined by how long you have had your O. Kind of like a puberty sort of thing. Mine went through stages of this off and on, and he is now about 10-11in now. Just be persistent, I have live plants that he and I would go round for round on, plant, up root, plant up root. He has stopped up rooting the plants and his new toy is the intake tubes for the one filter near his side of the tank. Mine is in a 125 and has plenty of room. But a larger tank would be nice if you have the money and space.

money is not a issue,, craigslist.com is good to me, but space is not,,, im on a 2nd floor and with a 55 i worry, dont wanna bring my office into my livingroom,, also the wife hates oscars, she has her little 40 gal downstairs with a BP, i hit the tank capper in the house ,,, she said no mas,

All of my CA/SA cichlids do their own aquascaping. I just took all the plants and stuff out of their tanks and push the gravel down every few days. Hey its what they do.

My oscar is great because hes the biggest thing in my 75 and he lacksidaisily floats around the tank and just casually whips a plant out of place or uproots another and just keeps going.

He reminds me of someone going to a supermarket and just pushing like all teh fruit off the shelves and then continuing walking and then pushing over endcaps and cereal and ignoring it.

I think its normal, I wouldn't worry much about it.

i've got an 8"er and two 6"ers and they're mellow as jello.

they only strange thing they do is at night they jump out of the water as if there were food stuck to the lids. not a violent jump either... just kind of look up and then stick their heads out of the water.

i love watching oscars go crazy. When people tell me that fish have no personality I just tell them to watch an oscar for awhile then try to tell me they have no personality. You should post a video.

My Oscar has a liking for the thermometer, He rips it of its mount and rams it into the glass drives my wife nuts. As for aquascaping every water change i spend ages leveling the gravel, sorting the fake plants only to find the next morning a huricane has gone through the tank during the night lol. Its not just my Oscar either my Cubans are just as bad and my new GT seams to think the fake plants are edible. Still you got to laugh or you'll go nuts.
