Do not purchase anything from the store under any circumstances... This only puts profits in the owners pockets keeping his doors open longer.

Stop in every Saturday (when they are the busiest0 and stand in front of the cage and talk to your friend about how awful it is they don't take proper care of their animals and how you would never buy anything from them because you don't believe in supporting such low grade standards...

Your welcome to try to talk them into doing a better job, but very very rarely will a shop owner or even employee happily accept constructive criticism from a shopper...

I feel it is critical to avoid "rescuing" animals that are kept in such conditions by purchasing them. While this does remove one animal from poor conditions it assures another one will be put in it's place, and also increases the stores profits ensuring the store stays open longer thus putting more animals into poor condition. So by purchasing such an animal, you are actually causing more animals to suffer...

I would try talking to the owner of the store and tell him about your concerns and if that doesnt help I would report them to your local SPCA and let them take care of it. Hope something happens to help those poor guys.

Uh...SPCA (or equivilant)...

try calling your local animal officer and see if they will investigate neglect or improper living conditions. if nothing else, they will help you pursue the correct course of action for you locality

Basically this. If the whole place is particularly bad you can always report them to the appropriate agency.

Thats really awfull, if they dont even have clean water they are doomed. If it were me (easy to say because im a student and am looking for a little job anyway) i would get myself employed in the reptile section, working for free so he cant refuse and make it a really stunning reptile section. The owner would soon see things your way once he saw his sales triple.

crazy isnt it,kids can just poke the snakes through the cage,no climate control,no hides.Uhg I better not even get started.
