Baddest Meanest Most Vicious Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The most baddest fish ive ever kept was a malawi cichlid. Melanochromis auratus. Bullied every fish in the tank. But given a mated pair combo I would say the native bluegill. Everytime I go near them things around their nest, they'll take bite at me. They don't have the physical capacities to cause much harm but then this question isn't stated right if they needed them. ( Though any fish that has babies to protect will be aggressive in trying to protect their babies so thats a different story too)

Brings us back to the question...is this a fish vs fish basis? Or fish vs human?

You´re wright, also, is this for fish you can find in an aquarium, or all freshwater fish. In which case I have to say its the Bullshark (when its in fresh water that is).

Here's my two cents worth. I have kept most of the fish listed on this thread at one time or another (or have friends that have). I would say that the GATF is an incredible fish with amazing speed, teeth and predatory skill but is so shy and nervous (at least in aquariums) that they would never qualify. I have never seen a really bad aba aba (although I have heard stories of them being fairly nasty). The goonch catfish (Bagarius yarrelli) that I currently have never does much of anything, and although a fascinating species to maintain, has never attacked anything that was larger than a goldfish. I guess if one were to keep an adult specimen it could pretty much eat anything, but would still not be a super mean, bad, vicious fish. A big territorial male Dovii would be close to the top of my list, and I have seen them destroy almost any fish put in with them. But a large snakehead or aimara (black wolfish) would carve out about a 5 inch wide chunk of meat out of the dovii and that would be the end of that. So my pick would be either an adult red (giant) snakehead or a Hoplias aimara. I personally have never seen the equal of a pissed off adult aimara and they have the size and dentition to back up the attitude.

I have to go with an electric eel. A fullgrown adult has a sizeable mouth with 600 volts to back it up. No initial contact required, and I've gotta believe an electric discharge would be an initial defense mechanism if attacked. What would its adversary do against that. Even if something could eat it outright, would it survive the internal electrocution?

I think my Redtail Catfish.... Eats anything meaty, juicy to their taste....even to the bones..There's an unsatisfied hunger to their brains I think

mated pair or nothern snakeheads it quite nasty
