Bagarius bagarius And bagarius suchus Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
how compatible would you say it would be with a jardini aro?

As long as the jar is too big to be eaten, I can't see the goonch bothering it. I've kept multiple goonch with aro's with no issues.

I can't speak to how the jar would be with the catfish as I've never particularly cared for jardini personally

how big does too big to be eaten mean? like more than half the length of the goonch? or more than 3/4?

Basically, will it fit in the mouth lol. I've seen bigger cats down some impressive meals at times, to include a juruense I had one time who choked down a Leptobotia elongata who was roughly the same length but thinner over the course of about four days. The jur could only fit about 2/3 of the loach at the start, but I'll be damned if he didn't finish the meal.

I've seen similar drama out of one goonch I had who was nicknamed the Lord of Death due to his murderous proclivities. He killed and/or ate everything in the tank with the exception of one fire eel for reasons I don't pretend to understand. This was a different species than what you're considering however; ime rutilus are far more docile. I've no direct experience with suchus.

Long and short of it is that I firmly stand by what I have in my signature line: never trust a catfish.

the jar is about 13-14" rn. would he be ok with a goonch about the same size? ive mixed aros and goonch once before turned out pretty well actually, but that cat was only about 8" and the aro about the same

Yeah you should be fine. Ime most goonch imports are 8-10", which should be a good match

ah now to just find somone who has one and will ship to me. would you know anyone i can contact in SEA that would be able to possibly procure one? shipping from where theyre caught would definitley be cheaper than getting it shipped from america

They're native to southeast Asia, so they should be very easy to find for you

not native to sri lanka and finding someone to ship has been a pain

Ok that's fair. I can see how that would be problematic. Unfortunately I don't have any contacts in that part of the world outside of headbanger_jib headbanger_jib . Hopefully he can set you a little closer to where you need to be in your search.

My bagarius lowland did eat a lapradei as big as itself, it was pot bellied for a few days but all ok
