Have you tried a powerhead down near the bottom to give him some exercise and help purge his muscles of lactic acid buildup?

haaaaa phil his tank has 2 402s at the opposite end,but unlike my smaller guys this big one stays out of the current. temp is 73*...he is 18" and has a bluegill fetish doing very well..he has put on some additional 2-3" in just a month or so since getting him.

Nice Yarelli Mac. Do you know how to tell the difference between yarelli and b. bagarius when they are under 10"? They look exactly the same to me, but one gets huge and the other relatively small.
