in my part of the world, they have these nightcrawler machines in darn near every convience store. It's like a little fridge with cups of live nightcrawlers. They're cheap, like a $1 for 24 crawlers. I've been tempted to buy them to feed my fish, but wasn't sure for some reason. Now that it's cold, I can't get the crawlers outside anymore. What do you guys think? bait shop nightcrawlers ok?

Yep, depending on how big your fish are. If your fish are small cut the crawlers up. If there big enough just drop them in the tank and watch the fish chow down.

Milkman i think he was more worried about parasites or other infections. But, in all of my personal experience buying bait shop night crawlers ive never lost a fish or had any other problems. I say go for it.

O, thought he ment something else :screwy: . They will be fine, if it makes you feel better i just get worms from the dirt and drop them in my tank after i wash them off.

Theyll be fine(the fish) i feed my knifefish, ray, blue dempsey.. all varying sized of earthworms from baitshops... either worms, dillies , or crawlers.. dice em up.. or just drop em in.. fish F'in LOVE EM!

thanks. I've been feeding them ones i gather from outside, but like I said, it's cold here now and I can't get "wild" ones. So, yes, my concerns were about parasites etc. I didn't know whether they inject them with something to keep them alive in those fridges for months at a time or what.

I feed those too. They are safe to feed.

put them in a box with lots of small holes for air, best thing to keep them in is shredded wet newspaper and feed them cold mash potato. Any dead ones will kill the rest so dispose of asap . keep them in a cold place garage cellar etc and turn them once a week will keep them alive for ages.

they eat yeast or starch in bread, so just lay a 1/8 of a piece of wonder bread on the top of there dirt in there container... i saw it on DIRTY JOBS!

true, i saw that and all but i find them love mash and they grow huge on it and last longer. It supposedly clears their systems out so theres no 'crap' in them when you feed the fish and potato does fish no harm
