Baitcasting?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not sure, cuz ur second link doesnt show the calcutta, get em both try em out, return the one u dont like...

I stay away from Shimano dont get me wrong I just dont like them. Daiwa I think make better reels and they are around the same price as the Shimanos. The Calcutta is mainly for heavyer type fishing like going deep or throw heavy baits. The other is more of a low profile reel. Another thing is what will you be useing these reels for?

IME, shimano reels are some of the best you can buy. Daiwa I have found are not made with the same quality. They are not as smooth when reeling, and their bearing systems are not as good. They are lighter, but I think that is because many of the parts are made with cheaper plastics. I have all Shimano Spinning reels, and a Flueger baitcaster, and love them all.

calcutta's are more used, for fishing heavier line, and for bigger fish, curado's are better for lmb's and the like. i personally have had some problems with shimano's when they get wet, but of the two, i like the curado, caught a 3lb smb on mine last.

Thanks for the replys, Im just starting to look at buying a "real" reels because im used to buying crappy walmart $20 reels just so i can fish. So i was just curious about baitcasters, but what really been looking for is a good spinning reel for bass and light saltwater. After some research it came down between the Daiwa Exceler or Shimano Symetre, im leaning alot more toward the Symetre because I played with one at sportauthority and loved it. The slow oscillation is seems pretty cool because i use braid alot. Does anybody have any experience with those reels?

Around me Sports authority is the most overpriced place for fishing equipment ever. I got one good deal, a Surfcasting rod for 45$ it was like 40% off and i had a 10$ off coupon. Penn reel, and sweet 8 foot rod.

So if u see a good deal scoff it up.
