Baiting for bullhead

Seines are great, but can take some getting used to. It helps if a more experienced person goes with you the first time to show you how it's done. The NANFA forum is a good place to find seining partners.

Otherwise just get a big dipnet with fine mesh. A pool skimmer net will work for a while. If you're going to be doing some hardcore collecting, consider buying a 'Perfect Dipnet' from Jonah's Aquarium or a Cummins net from Delta Net and Twine; they cost a bit more than a baitshop net but hold up much better.

Minnow traps will catch small bullheads. They like smelly baits; chicken livers or other organ meat, cut fish, Ivory soap, etc. willl work.

Wal-mart has a nice minnow trap, works great, for like 10 buck.

you could do a diy minnow trap with a 2 liter soda bottle. here ill post the website on how to make one

I used the bottle trap above to catch crays. Tbh they are a bit flimsy and annoying to use if I were you make a kind of mesh lobster trap
