Bala shark talk! When does a 2" inch bala shark get to about 12" inch?

I bought 4 Balas when they were around 2" each last Jan 2014. Three are now about 4-5" and curiously one seems to be a runt at about only 3". So yeah, I'd say they are slow growers. They're huge pigs and will eat any pellets, frozen foods, fresh market shrimp, green beans, cooked carrots, whatever I throw in the tank. I also have a large Bala that's about 8" but I bought him when he was already large. His growth rate has been at a crawl, he's grown maybe not even an inch in the 8 months or so that I've had him.

It is odd how they can have such size differences. I got my five (six, one didn't make it) a year ago at about two inches and one is pushing seven while the runt is three tops
