Bala Shark??....

Every ones balas seem to grow so slow but, when I had one last summer was about 1" when purchased and grew to about 6.5" in 10 months died by oscar.

I have 2 balas about 7-8in. I got them about 2 years ago. Their still growing but slowly? They seem to be the most peaceful fish in the tank with all the semi-aggressives.

I wouldnt say that they are slow growers,i mean as far as mine is concerned i never fed mine anything special it just got whatever i fed the rest of my fish,raw shrimp,scallops and sometimes Earthworms,so in 2yrs he grew 8" i wouldnt really call that slow.

I have 3 Bala's that are all about 7". My bala's are completely peaceful schooling around minding their own business. They just eat what ever thats left over from feeding time from my other fishes. Mostly pellets, algae wafers and pieces of market shrimp. Can't wait for them to get bigger!

Slow growers indeed. Iv had mine since 03 or 04 I forget. I think my biggest one is 6" at the very max. The other 2 are maybe 4.5"

So atleast 5 years old and grew 3.5" in 5 yrs. sad.

Think they get up to 18" I never had one get nearly that large though

I have not seen them that large either. I should be getting a couple of HUGE ones they are about 14" and 9" deep in body, more like a lemon fin. They are easily the largest i have ever seen.
