Hey everyone this is my first post on MFK. Looking for a little advice. Im not very familiar with the mechanics of a canister filters, but one of my Jebo filters rattle. So, i took out the propeller and cleanned it a littlebit, and noticed a small black rubber ball had come from somewhere i didnt see. Now i dont know where to put it. It also may have came out of the inside of the filter motor because i unscrewed it thinking thats how i got to the propeller, and later found out it wasnt. Also anyone know what causes canister filters to rattle, and blow air out the outake? Thanks!

There's a little plastic spacer that goes on the shaft of the impeller.

If there's air coming out of your canister, there's air going into your canister and that's your problem. Try to seal it up better, and if possible position the canister further below the water line of the tank.

I'm not familiar with Jebo but do you have a flow indicator window? It might be the ball from it.

Can you post any pics of the ball? What model Jebo is it?

Thanks! Its a Jebo Canister Filter 5 Ply 829

Looks, from the right hand pic, like the ball rides on top of the impeller, serving as a space maintainer, along with helping it stay centered.
Or not???

I may have figured it out. I think it came from inside the motor, in the outflow tube, working as a check valve, it fit in nicely. Now the filter is running, but I'm still getting lots of noise and air. I sealed everything with sealant. I think i need a new head, because its leaking tiny amounts of water from the intake head, when i move it.

Gray, thanks for posting the pic. I've been looking online for info on Jebo and it is impossible to find any instructions, parts, etc. You don't have any instructions that came with the filter packaging that you might be able to post a pic of, do you? Even an exploded view of the filter would be extremely helpful.

Also, there is an impeller shaft that goes through the impeller, correct?

Usually, when you have noise & air in the filter, it is not properly primed with water so you are hearing the pump cavitating. Check that all the hose connections, that are out of the water, are not sucking air. Use a spray bottle of water to do this and see if it blows bubbles OR sucks the water through the connection.
You can also try turning the filter off and placing the output tube (return tube) in an empty pail, plug the filter in and see if more air is purged from the filter.

Also try and apply some silicone lube or vaseline to the head seal o-ring/gasket or check if it is kinked or pinched.

Keep us posted.
