Finally! I bought her a medium rat last Tuesday after work. But her eyes were looking slightly cloudy, as were her scales, so I thought she was going into shed, and she wouldn't eat the rat
.
I put the rat in a critter cage to wait until she was finished shedding. But I pulled her out to look at her today, and her eyes were bright and clear and her scales looked great, so I went ahead and put her in a styrofoam container with the rat, and mostly closed the lid. 15 minutes later I heard a "SQUEAK" from the box, looked inside, and she had grabbed it (yes, I fed a live rat. The previous owner said she hadn't gotten it to take f/t meals yet. That will be my first priority, now that she's gone ahead and eaten a meal for me).
Honestly, I thought the rat might be a little too big or her, but she handled it with no problem. Its amazing how much they can stretch out their mouths/throats!
I waited about 15 minutes after she finished to put her back in her cage so she could hide in her fake rock.
I'm so happy!
