ball python - is this normal?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He ate!

I guess I should ditch the feeding bin from here on in, and I should also feed late at night..

This is a good feeling, although it's 3AM and I have a 9AM class tomorrow :nilly:

have you noticed mites at all? how long have you had him? Is he a baby or adult? have you changed anything lately with the tank?

Hi,have you checked for mites?

Hey there,

Yeah I've checked for mites and just now when I handled him
He's free of them..

I think he didn't like being in the feeding bin (I would place it in the bathroom with the lights off)

The mouse (F/T) was gone within 10 minutes of being placed in the enclosure last night.

I guess I got to know my snake a little better by now

Cheers

Just an update.

He ate another mouse last night using the same tactic.

Didn't move him to the feeding bin, just placed the F/T mouse inside a mug in the enclosure before I went to sleep.

Can't wait til the next shed when he has a better one.

In my opinion 50w is not enough, a 100w bulb or a 65w spot light would be more appropriate. There is no need for the water to be under the light, you could put a basking log there better and put the water somewhere else. She doesnt really have a basking site since the water takes up all the space.

I have seen snakes swallow the bedabeast, I would switch to newspapaer or aspen shavings made for snakes.\

good luck with your snake

P.S. I only fed him more because the mouses I have right now are only hoppers (for my previous snake).

After one more feeding of two I shall get some rat pups...

Also thinking of picking up some peat moss for the next shedding

Thanks, I think I'll get the 75w for next time.
I personally don't like the newspaper/aspen look, eco-earth can hold moisture good so I decided to use it..

The whole water under the lighting thing is a tip I picked up from Ralph Davis to increase humidity, but I may just move it over
