If I ever had to feed live to a snake, Id stun it. Not kill it. If a snake doesnt want frozen its usually because of the scent and movement. (thats assuming husbandry is right) So a mouse that smells LIKE A MOUSE that slightly moves is enticing, and theres no risk of injury.

No one said to starve your snake, they do it themselves.
I never said it weren't your choice whether to feed live or dead. Theres alot more BETTER ways to feed than live at first anyway...not to mention the issues on being inhumane to the mice unless 100% DESPERATELY NEEDED.
But whatever, I'm done with this thread.

thats perfect, we all have our ways. im sure you could go anywhere and you will always have people that belive in live feeders, and F/T feeders. he ate thats what matters to me. if you wanna be negative about it, saying i went about it the wrong way thats your choice, i did what i had to, to get it to eat. if getting him to eat is a bad thing i guess im a horrible person. i am willing to sacrafice a 2.00 mouse to get my snake to eat.
by the way, jessica, do you feed crickets, if so, maybe you should look into freeze dried, its more humane....LOL

If I could get my leos to take dead crickets, I would, but they really do have none of it, so its absolutely neccasarry. Plus there is the argument about the pain receptors being different in the species...but whatever dude.

i didnt ask for advice actually, i was posting an update, but you had to voice your opinion, and say i should have done a F/T. i never asked a question. who needs to read now. i asked what braining was after you told me, and i said i would try it. thats all. my original post was not a quesiton.
maybe so but you cannot confront me on judging/misreading when you have done it twice first. not to mention bite my head off for trying to help you when you HAVE done something wrong.
Being a noob to royals..when you've done something wrong on a reptile forum, you WILL get told, I was polite about it 'till you bit my head off..with an attitude somewhat like LC - not listening especially when those more experienced with the species than you is trying to help.
The fact is, rxracer, like it or not (and we all do things wrong) you because you gave up after offering f/t what twice? And resorted to live straight away.
This was wrong for a few of many reasons
- unneccasary danger to the snake
- it was probably still settling in ( I had my boa not feed for two weeks when I got him)
- royals can go without food for a LONG time..one week (and letting it go hungry and so more likely to take the food) ain't going to hurt it.
All this is coming from somebody who owns 5 snakes and all are feeding now successfully. And yes, I had trouble (not with all)
If you get your back up because you do not like to be told your wrong and will not listen to those who (on this subject) know better and by listening to them will help you to succeed, then you will not get anywhere. And its clear your getting your back up 'cause I said you could have tried something else first ( I never said you were wrong up until now..as I was trying the nice approach to help you..but seeing as you bit my head off...)
The point is, not you getting childish because you misterunderstood and took mere ADVISE as critisim, but the problem you have now.
To get a royal feeding on live feeding on p/k or t/f which in the long run, reduces risks of injury to your snakes.
Lets hope you don't get childish about this advice and have an LC attitude now..
