hey guys.ive been reading up on ball pythons.I was wondering if i can see ur pics.

im thinking about ordering one,and placing it in a 15 gallon for now.I read that i should have a large branch in the tank.and for heating im gonna use a infared bulb. The subtrate is going to be newspaper, and i will have a large water dish for him to drink from or possibly soak in.Does this sound good.i want everything to be perfect before i get one.

That's a good start for a baby/juvi.

Only thing you need to add, and is also very important, are hiding places on both the warm and cool sides of the tank.

Whatever heating method you use, one end needs to be 90-94 and the cool side should not drop below 80, or else you are going to run into feeding issues if you don't keep the temperatures in that range.

For a first time ball owner, I would NOT recommend a hatchling, you are better off with a more established juvi that is at least 200-300 grams.

okay thanks guys.....Is it true they get large enough to eat rabbits.

No large_cichlids. They don't eat rabbits.

I know people that feed their Ball Pythons small rabbits since rats are illegal in the province. However if you means full-grown ones, forget it.

Indeed, as JD and Bloody said, adult rabbits of any breed are too large. Maybe a young rabbit could be got down by a large female BP.

Female BPs average in the 4.5 to 5 ft range, while males usually don't exceed 4 ft.
