She was at one point out on her own for a month and this happened (pic from 9/27/05)......

That was the only time she got loose for any amount of time and I was probably lucky we found her again since the wild snakes around here tend to be cannibals. I reinforced her old cage after that and had so much trouble controlling the humidity (it was too wet so I installed a fan and it was too dry tried putting a timer on it and it still was one or the other) I put her in a second hand vision cage.

Not exactly sure I bought him 2 1/2 years ago and he was already 2 feet? I started him on small rats (frozen) probably within 6 months after getting him.

So you think my ball is ready for rats? He is 3'4''... Let me know because he eats mice like they're the last ones on earth!!! This is all new because I have never heard of Ball Python eating rats... I read they ate mice... But I want this guy to be big and healthy!

Generally speaking, the prey item should not be larger than the widest part of the snake. In your case, it sounds like he should be able to take a small rat. How old is he? If he's past 4-5 yrs, and you start him on rats, then I suggest only feeding him every couple weeks or so to prevent obesity.

My large BP just doesnt eat. He is so weird. I want him to eat more but he eats like only when hes starved. I offer him food but he rejects it all the time. I want to get rid of him. ALWAYS BUY CBB!!!!!!

I agree. Mine was probably WC, and although he used to eat F/T mice, now he refuses anything but hamsters. Maybe its an age thing; he's at least 16 yrs old.

My ball is about as big around as a pop can. Yours should be big enough to eat at least a small rat, rats are soooo much more nutritious than mice. Like MDC_Leviathan said you only want to feed it as large as the widest part of it's body.

Okay thanks for the advice guys! He is about two right now but, not as wide as a rat... Maybe a full grown adult mouse... Please post pics of your guys ball pythons.
Especially you Snake eyes... Sounds Killers! I never knew they grew to that size!!!
Please post pics!

Okay so rats are more nutritious than mice? Also since you guys are a hell of alot more knowledgable than me... A couple months back my ball would eat 3 adult mice every 5 days... And he was growing very noticeably! Now he will only eat one mouse every 7 days.
Any reason for this? So I just got a buch of rats, hoping to start my own breeding. Will he willing take a rat more willingly than a mouse? Any difference there?
