Balloon-fish, Glo-fish, short bodies - where does it end?

The latest I have seen of this freaky trend - Balloon Penguin tetra (Thayeria boehlkei)
What saddens me the most is that this is on the online new list of one of the most reputable pest stores available to me. I will not mention the name here. But.... What a shame!
One would think they would choose a particularly good looking specimen for their advertisement. Well the photo below (clipped from their add) looks like a sickly freeky poor little monstrosity. Check out the size of the eyes relative to the whole fish.
I love penguin tetras. I hope not many people find this trend necessary or a good idea.

Don't get me started, I find EBJDs, EB Acaras, and long fin, designer colored oscars and severums folly, not to mention the entire hybrid craze, abhorrent.

It will end if people don’t buy them, as long as there’s a market, there will be stuff like this. I don’t like this type of stuff, but it doesn’t bother me. If someone enjoys them, it’s all good IMO

Have an old friend who's a computer/electronics genius. I think if we team up we can come up with a chip and create remote controlled fish. Just imagine-- no more hiding fish, instantly stop aggression, amaze your friends!
