Got 2 new balloon mollies. I always swore i wouldn't have them, as I don't care for them that much. However, we were given one as a birthday gift for my niece and she is very sweet. We went and got a 2nd one today for her as a companion, as she will be the only balloon in the tank.

The one we got today had about 8 or 9 babies so far. All but 3 of them are dead, and that is very sad. I guess the stress of being moved was too much for her. The three remaining ones are still going, but 2 look as though they won't make it. The third seems to be doing well swimming and stuff. Gave them a small amount of milk and peas for the others.

We had to move 2 silver molly babies (about 3 weeks old) to another fry tank as they were trying to eat the babies. I don't know if she is done having them, but I am so proud of her. I hope she has more that make it, but I am not hopeful she will.

When i got my balloon molly a little while ago she had almost 40 babies .
I've learned alot from this batch. I lost of these babies. Now I have 2 10gal. tanks just for breeding livebearers The key to the babies survival in the first couple of days is to keep them in the same water they were born in. Thats how I lost this batch. (Water Change)

She is in a birthing tank that is 10 gallons. I have her new friend in with her, as she seems more comfortable that way. I haven't changed the water in the tank yet, and want to wait for 2 days or so. I had just done a water change the day before she came home. She is pretty comfortable in the tank, and I will leave her there for awhile.

I believe my girl is done having fry, after about 8 or 9 of them. I think only one of them survived. I have guppy fry in the same tank, and one of them is more like balloon molly then the guppies. I am posting a different thread with her unusual behaviour regarding this baby.
