Got a pair of fish that have the bodies of balloon mollies but are indeed a Pearl Gourami hybrid/mutation. Anybody know the story on these guys? I can't really find much information on them...

The only time I've seen or heard of them was in OddBaller's import's thread.
They're not a hybrid, I'm not even sure how they're made. I think it's a deformity, but can't be certain.
I've seen so many SB variants of different fish families, that I'm starting to think there's more to it than just a birth defect that is kept around instead of culled.

yer, there's lots popping up now, i've seen short bodied kissing gouramis, rams, pearl gouramis, mollies, green terrors. they're definitely up to something in singapore, there must be some members on here who are over there...
Very interesting. Op please post pics. These are my ballon pracox rainbows. Fast pic sorry just for share. How fast are they growing? These are 4 months in my tank and still dime size. As far as I know it's just selective breeding, with very few ballooning .
