Balzani tankmate suggestions

Harlequin rasboras do well in warmer waters. They actually make good discus dithers, not sure they would do overly well in cooler temps.

Yeah I never really read too much about H. rasboras but they are doing just fine in my gymno tank and the temp is around 60. I've only had one die and that was due to it jumping out of the tank. They are awesome little fish and have been very well behaved so if you like them give them a shot.

I'm keeping Goodeids with my Gymno sp Paso Pache at the moment, the water temp was down to below 60 in the basement this winter and all was well. I also kept them with Zoogenotecia tecquilla

My balzanii/gymno tank is at around 68*. I have serpae and Columbian tetras with them. To be honest the Balzanii could care less about them and still are not very outgoing. The Labiatus are always active though.

So I guess the community fish didn't really make a difference then? I'm thinking the Balzani will always be shy and a bit skiddish no matter what I put in the tank with them. I did go to the LFS yesterday and looked around a bit, but i do wish the LFS's would educate themselves a little about the fish they have. I was basically told that none of them would be suitable for the temp of my tank and that my balzani would have ICK if I didn't get the tank temp up. Long story short I finally left and came home to look on Aquabid like I always do. Sometimes I wonder why more fish stores don't go under when for the most part they do nothing to educate themselves.
