Bamboo Shark swollen mouth

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If looks just inflamed and not swollen and he is eating I would not worry too much about it. If he stops eating that’s when I would worry. Some of the whitespotteds I have worked with have rubbed themselves on their noses when they have been in confined spaces or in tanks with lots of décor. If you think he is running into things trying to swim you might want to conceder taking out some of the rock you have. Freeing up some of the tank might help him out.

PS... Cool Looking Pics!

If your not using iodine in your tank right now, I am surprised your shark is still alive. These sharks need iodine to prevent goiters. Goiters usually form behind the gills and look like lumps or tumors. It will cause the sharks throat to swell up and will prevent it from eating. Bamboo sharks get goiters more often then any other shark. I would put iodine in your system right away. The goiter can be reversed if caught early.
