Used to have a bunch in my 90, with the community guys, and decided recently to buy some more. When I had them in the past they lived well and for quite some time. These guys however were different...the first day they swam like crazy all across the top of the water almost freaking out and now 2 days later woke up to find them both dead. Am curious as to what happened with them, they were feeding day 1, the waters good, no other deaths in a long time so I dono. Just frustrating cuz I loved watching them do weird stuff in there.

Did they seem well fed when you got them? Any medications used in the tank between the old shrimp and getting these new ones? How did you acclimate them?

There might have been something wrong with them before you bought them. Aside from small LFS, when I see them in pet stores they're generally sick and underfed (places like Petco and Petsmart try to feed them pellets and regular fish food, rather than things they can filter). Were they okay when you bought them, or were they displaying the patterns and colors of sickness/stress?

There were about 10 in the tank when I got there with a few other fish. I picked out the two that I thought looked the best from my past experience with them. They did not seem to be too underfed, definitely a little but like said that seems tobe the case when you get them. I acclimated them pretty slowly, it was really cold that day and I wasnt sure how warm they were in the bag so I took my time. Like I said they were eating within an hour of being there, sitting on a log in the current filtering. No medication has ever been used on this tank..I was happy to have them aagain when they were swimming across the top, then outa nowhere both dead. Lots of different foods go into the tank too so I am sure that wasnt the issue. Who knows, just happens I guess
