Anyone try putting bamboo in their tanks? Just got a huge piece at my local mall at one of those stupid little kiosks. It was only 5 bucks and is almost four feet tall, so figured I would try it out.

Someone here did it, looked awesome with the fish swimming through it. They do grow in water, so water rich in nutrients like our tank water will certainly make these guys happy...

Yup, its very common to keep in tanks, I know a number of people. It's called Chinese Water Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana) and the roots grow in water no problem. Hardy plant too!

wasnt sure what % of the stalk has to be out of the water for this to work.
35% of the shoot needs to stick out of the water in order to work.

34 or 36 % and you're screwed :D

ive had the bamboo in my turtle tank completly submerged for arround 6 months with no problem

i have also read that you can take dead pieces and spray them with polyurethane and have them make an interesting display in your aquarium
