Has anyone had success using bamboo in a freshwater setup? Any tips are appreciated. If anyone has any pics, those would be helpful as well.

Howdy, and Welcome to MFK!

A few members have tried it and it started out okay. An update would be great, guys! If they don't find this thread, try a search of old threads and you should be able to find some info.

Good luck,

HarleyK

I don't know about long-term but we've kept those "lucky bamboo" in our fish tanks and they seem fine except the occassion fish trying to tear it apart. From what I hear they aren't even really part of the bamboo fcamily. They are just called bamboo because the resembe the a minature version of bamboo.

yep had great sucess in a 90g and then added some to my 55g it gets along with low light and seems okay 80% submerged i have some in a vase with the right amount submerged and it hasnt grown any faster

:lol3::ROFL: Thats too funny. I have heard of putting bamboo into things like turtle tanks due to the fact that you are having underwater and above water portions, tends to help the plant survive that much better. I want to put some bamboo into my turtle tank when I expand the tank for them again.
