Based off of my experience with lucky bamboo in my tanks I’d say yes but you can’t completely submerge it or else it will slowly die. What you want to do is position it in the tank so that the leaves are out of the tank, a job would be a good place for it to go given it’s small size. The sad part is that since the stalk has been cut it won’t be getting any bigger, only the stems will get bigger. If you are set on having a whole bamboo stalk in the tank then I would get an uncut stalk, they typically sell them in weird displays such as when they’re bent into a heart or twisted around each other and sometimes you can find a single or a few stalks together that haven’t been cut for sale. It would take about a year for a small piece of bamboo that’s uncut to grow big enough to not be at risk of rotting in the tank. I can show you my bamboo if you wish?
Thanks for this info, I may just put it in in the case dealmits in if tall enough to have the leaves out of the water. It's going into a 46bowfront maybe.

This is my nano fish 29 gallon with my curled lucky bamboo. I got this roughly a year ago from amazon as a 24 inch. Here’s a fun fact, when you’re measuring curled lucky bamboo you measure up to the curl so my 24 inch curled lucky bamboo was actually about 28 inches with the curl and about 32 inches at the top of the leaves.
If you look at the bamboo you’ll see I put a nitrate bottle, it’s there to show how y’all the leaves were originally a year ago.
After a year of growth it is now just under 5 feet high at the top of the tallest leaf, if I laid them down flat they would probably be at 5 feet.
Now I’ll show you my lotus bamboo which is my personal favorite.

Oh I forgot to say something. One of the stalks in my 29 actually sent out a baby bamboo stalk that you can see in the 1st pic and partially in the 2nd pic. The baby bamboo has been growing for a few months, maybe 3 or so, and it hasn’t rotted so I find it a bit odd. I’m thinking that if a bamboo stalk can keep growing then it might not rot because it can grow above the water line but a cut bamboo stalk can’t grow any bigger so it will just eventually rot?.
