My new mono is pretty nipped up from the oscar. Behind his lower back fin is pretty much raw. What is the quickest way to heal this? I have separated him and put him in a temporary tank hoping that he wouldnt die from stress. Is there anything I could add to the hospital tank to heal him quicker??

Sounds pretty bad, I recommend 87 degree temp, clean water, good meals and lots of water changes. Make sure your water stays oxygenated as well and he should recover no prob. I personally do not use any chemicals.

Add some aquarium salt, and raise the temp.....if u want u cud add melafix but definitely do the salt

One teaspoon per gallon. If your fish is able to tolerate it, you may add another teaspoon per gallon in the next 12 hours. That will sum up two teaspoons per gallon. Should be enough to keep the bacteria from latching on the wounds. Dissolve the salt thoroughly before adding to the tank.

You can dab the wound in the meantime with betadine. Gently lift the fish and swab lightly on the wound with a cotton ball already soaked in iodine.

do not add anything to your tank for the bass heaps of food and water change... melafix and salt ill stress the bass... they are a very touchy fish good luck.

x3...i agree. I wouldnt add any chems or salt to the water. Just to water changes every other day if he is in good health.
