i saw two today in the LFS.. one was about 10 inches picking on the other one...that was about 8 inches... they were brought in because they outgrew they're tank... they were striking.. i was tempted but i don't know anything about them... they looked alot like head standers..but they were way past 5 inches so i knew they could not be them.. they wanted $14.99 for each... is that a good price.. any info about these guys is appreciated.. still thinking about them... awesome fish..

I have one. They are a headstander, and are beautiful fish. They are fast growers, and get 10-12''. They are best kept single, as you can see why. They are fin nippers, and are best to keep w/ larger aggressive cichlids or fast moving fish. They have a lot of personality like a cichlid, and aren't that shy. They eat a varried diet, and may destroy plants. Mine even consumes some of my aregntine sword plants. Also, keep the tank covered, because they like to jump.
Hope that helps :)

you answered everything.. they are beautiful.. would love to see a pic of yours if you have one... thanks very much..

what a beautiful fish... if one is still there when i go back i will definitly get it.. i cannot get two.. they don't get along.. and i would need to put them together.. we will see..thanks so much...

its a hit or miss with this fish. i bought a large one (9~10") and i had to take him back. he was absolutely demonic. he was even picking on my silver aro. it really comes down to the individual fish. some can be as docile as a platy or very aggressive.

they are awesome fish though

and make sure you have TIGHT LIDS on your tank. they are like streamlined torpedos. when i was trying to catch him, he shot out of the tank and smacked the wall  luckily he was ok

maybe you can try getting the small one that has been picked on. perhaps that would keep him docile?
