I'm currently building a DIY stand for a 125g and I was trying to think of how to make water changes simpler. I hate having to run a python from my kitchen sink to the room where my previous and future tanks sit. So, I'm wondering if anyone has ever installed a faucet and sink of any kind under their stand. I was thinking a bar sink that I can connect the python to would be perfect. The faucet and drain pipes would come up thru the floor from the basement, and I know a plumber who might be available to help do this.

What do you think?

It sounds like a good idea in that if I do have a room with a 300 plus gallon tank in it would be nice to have a eather a drain or a sink to take water away. With me It's moving the water out of the fish tank to the outside in a bucket which is the hard part.

If you have room under your stand and easy access to plumbing, I think it is great idea.

The stand I'm building is a little taller than normal so it will have 30" of clearance underneath. This should give me plenty of room for the sink and faucet. Needing to mix hot and cold water to the right temperature when doing water changes is the reason for the sink, obviously.

The wall that the stand will be placed against is sort of an outside wall (unheated garage on the other side), so I'm not sure it would be wise to run the plumbing up through the wall. The drain will go down and along the basement wall to the basement sump. There are hot and cold water lines in the basement nearby to tap into which is nice.

Hers what you can do if you have bulkheads installed-
Attach a PVC bib to you under tank plumbing and then you can run the hose outside to drain and to your sink to fill, works great for me.

This design will work as soon as you find a way to make water flow up hill, by gravity alone.

I read the thread twice and don't see what you are talking about. :screwy:

Am I missing something or did you misread the posts?
