Just got in some Bartail Flatheads (Platycephalus indicus). While this fish grows to 40 inches TL, the specimens offered here are about 5" TL. Found on sandy and muddy bottoms of coastal waters. Frequently in estuaries, juveniles have been taken in freshwater. Adult prefer marine/brackish water.

Cool Fish Frank, Would it be safe to say that this Monster would do good in a 100 gallon tank and the water being "Brachish"? Good Luck on Selling out of this cool looking fish!!:clap

A 100 gallon tank would be a minimum size, IMO. At the size they are now, freshwater (with an alkaline pH and moderate hardness) will be fine. But as they grow they will need brackish/marine water.

Thanks, I've been interested in Brackish water tanks for sometime now, but I have not yet "Pulled the Trigger". Very Cool fish though!!:naughty: :grinyes:

I'm not sure you will see them in your local fish shop. They look so much like the regular whiteclouds, at first glance, that I think most shop owners wouldn't bother with them. They seem to ship quite well, especially in the breather bags I use. I have a school of 12 of them in my 150 along with some half-dollar sized redhead severum, plus a bunch of small and medium-sized tetras and Rasboras. They seem to be doing well, and competeing for food without a problem.

Well Frank, I think I would like to buy then 12 of them for my 75 gallon planted tank! They look beautiful and very unique in color. Do you think they would breed easy in a tank of that size??

I am not sure how easily they breed. However, if they are anytihnig like their Chinese cousins, they should breed readily. The males in my 150 do display at the females, but I have not seen any actual breeding going on.

Cool, just buy them through your web-site?? Who do you use for shipping? Thanks again!!:grinyes: :headbang2

Yes, please order through the web site. I advise express shipping, but some folks go for priority as it costs less. If you want priority service, let me know and I'll send you a payment button for the total amount.
