barbel will grow back?

It should grow back. My silver had one of its barbels bitten off by a pacu once, and it regrew within a few months, although it is a bit shorter than the other barbel now.

Not true. My 17 inch jardini jumped and hit the corner of my tank and completely tore off its left barbel from the base. Within a 6 months, the barbel grew back but was a couple of mm shorter than the original.
All it really takes is very clean water and a good diet!

Lol, not sure how you can dispute someone's personal experience... are you claiming it didn't happen?
